New You Goal!

I was thinking on our quest to whatever fitness level we are seeking, one way we can get there would be to set little goal for ourselves. Sometimes it's easy to say "I am going to lose 30 lbs. this year" but actually getting there is another story.

So, as a way to start on our path we should all give ourselves a goal to meet this week only. Maybe you, like me, had chips and dip for lunch and you want to eat a healthy lunch everyday this week. Or maybe you serve your family KFC on paper plates and they think it a home cooked meal. There is no blaming in the previous statement. Trust me. But perhaps you want to cook a healthy dinner 4 nights this week.

MY goal for this week is to work out at least 4 times, for at least 30 minutes. I usually do a treadmill/weights combo. Nothing fancy.
UPDATE: It was Jon Stewart and I tonight did some crunches, weights and a little treadmill tonight, two down and 2 to go!

Join me in my goal setting and in your comments let us know what you want to do this week. Your goal and how you want to meet it. It always helps to have someone to be accountable to!

LIPSMACKED (just piggyback on A's post): Okay I'm adding to A-bombs goal. My goal is for tomorrow... I want to get up, before work and work out. And then my goal for Tuesday will be the same thing. I'll take it one day at a time and just see how that works out.

I also want to drink more water tomorrow cause water makes me feel good.

Simmons Says...

I know I'm no Richard Simmons (frankly, glitter spandex scares me), but the only way I will work out is if I'm motivated. Every April my fridge is covered in photos of me when I was 20lbs lighter and sporting a six-pack, not the remnants of a mini keg from New Years. I will go back to reciting the wise words of Miss Piggy, "Never eat more than you can lift", and stop convincing myself that sizes aren't running smaller this season as compared to last. Sigh. A girl can dream, right?

This is my game plan again this year, at least until someone can show me how to make my refrigerator moo whenever I open it.

Great "Good for you" Food

I have posted a little sidebar where I will put links to good tasting healthy foods. If you have any tips for me, let me know. I am always on the lookout for new recipes!

I really like Ellie Krieger's show on Food Network, Healthy Appetite, because she makes food that is tasty without using a lot of highly processed ingredients. She focuses on portions control and using lower calorie ingrediants when appropriate. Her Fish Tacos with Chipotle Cream are amazing! A little spicy with tons of flavor. And for breakfast she has a Vanilla Spice Oatmeal that makes breakfast delicious! She makes healthy eating and cooking enjoyable!

My Work-Out of Choice (until I change my mind again)...

In my short time on Planet Beks, I've lost a combined 70lbs, give or take, just walking. Last year I lost a good big strolling down the streets of L.A. in the early morning. I personally cannot do the treadmill. I get bored looking at a fixed point. In college I did get up every morning and watch back to back episodes of Saved By the Bell while working out, but I have found that getting outside worked better for me.

I fell off the work-out wagon and I am trying to get back on and stay on. So for now, its walking, dodging garbage trucks and run-away buses. We'll see how it turns out.

My jam of the day is definitely "Blame It" By Jamie Foxx ft. T-Pain. The video is awesome. Check it out, then sweat to it.

Welcome to the club!

So, we all think we could lose a few pounds or would like to fit back into that one fabulous outfit we love, right? Maybe we've had a baby, or maybe we just love dessert. I mean really, who would choose sit-ups over a sundae? Not me that's for sure. But I do want to be healthy and look a little better than I do now. And I know I am not alone. So, I figured the best way to keep myself on track is to get some buddies on the quest with me to help keep me honest. We can work together, chat about work outs, share yummy healthy recipes.

But I want to stay positive. I know it's easy to start complaining about how much you weigh or how big your booty is (not that it's a bad thing if it is) and I want to avoid that. We are pretty, we are gorgeous, smart women. And it's important to keep that in mind. Not to sound like a motivational poster but we are awesome!

If you are interested, then join us. Come along for the ride and maybe we can learn a little from each other but at the very least have a lot of fun!
